I’d like to believe I’m a pretty hip, cool, groovy young cat...yo? Ugh.
Anyway, I found something pretty cool to share with you...homies? (ok I’ll stop). It’s the weird and wonderful world of Dieselpunk.
To start, first time I heard of it was due to this thread on imgur -

Never was a big fan of the idea of steampunk simply because, though it was pretty, it was overly complicated and to a point absolutely detrimental to the idea.
However, dieselpunk uses the concept of how the future would look like in the 50s. The individuals that imagine this retro-future use the same rules and aesthetics that people in the first half of the 20th centuries would use.
This, is not dieselpunk. This is what 1950's Japan thought the distant future would look like. Though we have bullet trains, flying cars and police drones, that extra 50's flair makes it stand out a lot more than the objects we actually have.
So Steampunk is basically the idea of modern gadgets using the power and technology of steam engines to run.
Dieselpunk, on the other hand is a similar concept but uses,
the diesel-based technology of the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! through to the 1950s with !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! technology !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! sensibilities.

I love those drawings. If I had any skill as an artist, that’s the sort of thing I’d draw.

I was actually at a Steampunk convention this past weekend, and I really wish Dieselpunk would get the same level of attention. Everything there was all gears and brass, but I prefer vacuum tubes and stainless.
It's all good though, my wife looks good dressed up for either.

This is my jam. I didn’t even know this was a thing, but this is exactly my thing.
